High Complexity Design and
Production Processes

In its permanent application of new technologies
in the aeronautical area, Enaer has implemented
the concept of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
in its design and production processes, by incorporating
the CATIA V and Smarteam systems, allowing to
manage a whole project in terms of conceiving,
managing, producing, and configuring parts, pieces,
airframes, and Aircraft, in order to deliver
the aeronautical solution as searched and required
by the customer.
Through the interaction of sophisticated design
and production programs, a design can be validated
by conducting mechanical, kinetic, or interference
analysis, In this virtual environment, the design
errors can be detected and corrected, and the
design can be optimized, thus significantly reducing
the production costs.
The integrated engineering and production work
as implemented by Enaer allows for the modern
machinery to continue with the next stage of design
and analysis. Such stages comprise:
- Manufacturing metallic, or compound elements.
- Assembling mechanical, hydraulic, electrical,
and electronic subassemblies.
- Assembling (structural and mechanical stations)
- Conducting security tests, and final tests.

Such capability allowed to develop the Millennium
Project, where the ergonometric and maintenance
improvements for the airplane T-35 Pillán
were virtually evaluated. In turn, it allowed
conducting the corresponding analysis to install
an infrared visualization system at the wing structure
of the Pillán, as well as the entire internal
equipment involved.
Other feature of this tool is the structural analysis
methodology, including Damage Tolerance criteria,
allowing to analyze a longer lifecycle for an
airplane. The Damage Tolerance model was developed
from the design information of the T-35 Pillán
design, which incorporates inspection and maintenance
procedures.
With this new and effective technology, Enaer
is level with companies like Boeing or Eads, positioning
as one of the leading companies, offering a product
complying with the world quality standards, and
developing new aeronautical products.
